Attendees of this two-day course will learn a set of equipment and operational skills sets necessary for a successful underwater shoot. This course covers the Gates Setup, Test, and Operation (STO) Basics curriculum and provides students with a Gates STO Basics Certification—a valuable skill set recognized throughout the underwater production community. Founded in 1969, Gates is known for designing and manufacturing the most reliable underwater housings in the world. This hands-on course initially takes place at RED Miami and moves to a local pool the second day for application of underwater best practices.
Course Topics include:
• Proficiency in the setup of Gates underwater housings
• On-location test tools and techniques for establishing housing seal integrity
• Basic operation of Gates underwater imaging systems and tips to assist the underwater cameraman/DP
• Practical understanding of underwater optics, port types/applications, and optical materials
Scuba certification is highly recommended for this course.
