I have been shooting with a GATES / XHA1 combo for just over a year and love it! Extremely well balanced, reliable and pretty much indestructible. I have taken it on expeditions to an isolated atoll in the Southern Coral sea where I had no backup so needed everything to perform perfectly, and it did.

It has been with me down to a deserted island in the Southern ocean to shoot Australian Sea Lions and again it performed flawlessly. Additionally it is used on a weekly basis in Sydney and New South Wales with no issues at all. Add to that first class service from the GATES team and authorized dealers; I would never use anything else.

I got a job assignment for a underwater production in High Definition. As I had the Sony FX1 already the only concern was to find the right housing for it. As I only had limited time for the shoot I needed a reliable housing and decided to go for a manual system. I’ve owned Gates housings for the better part of 10 years from a PD150 to the EX1 and they have always performed at the right times. They’ve endured endless rough journeys throughout East Africa and around the World, and now with the 44c on the EX1 it is simply incredible.
