What Our Customers Say

It is in 2004 that, counseled by a professional friend, I discovered Gates. My first housing, the Sony PD 170 was a revelation. Easy to handle and good-looking, I was completely satisfied with the Gates. Five years later, with my second movie camera, the Sony PMW EX1R, I did not hesitate a single second to choose a housing: GATES or nothing! Since then, my underwater footage is top-notch! Further, the big great angle Fathom SWP44C is a true jewel. It became the extension of my eyes and I have total confidence in it. There is no doubt, my next housing will be a GATES... or nothing!

I am so happy with this set up (EX1, SWP44C, nanoFlash mount) and have been filming for a Discovery travel show using both my Gates housings -- one for wide angle and the other for standard and macro. The housings have been working so well and are an absolute joy to dive with. Love my Gates!!

‘I know my way around the Gates EX1 housings like the back of my hand but I admit to a degree of nervousness using a Deep Red for the first time in anger filming blue whales off Sri Lanka. This is an incredible piece of kit and so when the world’s biggest ever animal surprised me by surfacing just 30 or 40 feet away I knew I could trust by equipment to deliver the shot. The whoops of joy on the boat when they saw my footage - and that of Mike Pitts who was shooting on another Deep Red - said it all!’ The picture is a video grab of a calf blue whale as it surfaces in the Indian Ocean. The camera was set to shoot at 3k to help with depth of field and shooting 50fps.

When talking about underwater housings, Gates’ are the only ones. My gates z1 is resistant, easy to handle and well balanced. It is the best to capture the images in any situations: deep wrecks, under the ice of the Arctic Sea or in the Mediterranean waters. The controls are very comfortable to use, and thanks to the monitor em419 I perfectly foresee the final result, even during filming. I recommend to all underwater videographers to buy a Gates housing, for the quality of the products and the seriousness of the company.
I work only with gates.

First, the shoot went great! As an added Bonus, we came back from Phuket and shot the next morning at Siam Ocean World in the shark Al Caudullo tank. More fantastic footage and some great shots of the housing.

I've been using Gates, for fifteen years. The adventure that I had started with miniDV still goes on with EX1R. I only capture the best with my Gates housing because I know that Gates will provide the best facilities to use my camera with the higher performance.
With my special thanks to GATES
